You're not looking at what I wrote, Bill. I didn't say for the next election. I said we need to get a system in place where people can get free ID cards and then require the ID. That way both sides get what they want and we get a stronger protection on voting. How is that bad?

When I made daily posts about gays earlier this Spring, my ratings went through the roof. But it can be nice to know that someone thinks you are number 1, other than the family.

I tell anyone who mentions it to me, "that if I rank number so and so in the list of the most influential political blogs in the state, the pond is awful shallow, the well ain't too deep and the turnip truck ain't half full."

That is usually good for a laugh.

I oppose the ID law, but I've never called a proponent a bigot.

I just wish the debate was straightforward. For instance you discuss the "problem" of voter fraud without saying there is no evidence of any such thing happening in Missouri in recent history. On the other hand, even proponents of the ID law admit many regular voters will not be able to vote in the next election if it passes.

So, we have no problem, and we have a "solution" that will keep voters from voting.

And let's certainly not discuss this in the context in which it has been raised: as a Karl Rove program (our US attorney in West. Distr. of MO was fired for refusing to file bogus cases right before the 2004 election) to help conservatives at the expense of voting democrats.

Oh duh!
Maybe I should have read the article first.

With milk being nearly $4 a gal now, I didn't know the states dairy industry needed a boost.

Honestly, did we need an official state dessert?

Who thinks up this stuff?
Where and with who did all this start?
How much money was used to get this job done?

Is there any way to find all that out?
We need a good investigative reporter around here.

I don't live on the North Side, but I've chased trains up and down C-Street for years and it has made great strides of late. Yeah, you can see some pretty seedy folks there. My wife used to be on the Kitchen, Inc. staff, and some of the tales she told me were almost enough (almost) to turn me into a conservative. But it's also incredibly diverse. The gays like to hang out on C-Street because nobody hassles them. A lot of artist types like to live there because rent is cheap. If they feel safe up on the North Side, I wouldn't be too worried about a one-evening foray into a karaoke dive there.
