Dickerson Park Zoo and Dr Pepper invite area children to create artwork incorporating one of two themes for the cover panel of Dr Pepper vending machines at the zoo.
Contest Dates
June 25 – July 14, 2008. All entries must be postmarked by July 14, 2008.
Age Categories
Ages 7 and younger
Ages 8-12
Themes
“Year of the Frog” (to raise awareness of endangered amphibians) or “Art Goes Green” (emphasizing the importance of recycling for the environment.)
Grand Prize: A grand prize poster will be selected from each theme. The winners will each receive a one-year Friends of the Zoo Family Membership and a prize package from Dr Pepper and Dickerson Park Zoo. The grand prize recipients’ art will be featured on a Dr Pepper vending machine for at least one year.
The “Honor Roll” will also be selected for each age category and theme. These honorees will receive a family four-pack of tickets to Dickerson Park Zoo.
Zoo guests will be given the opportunity to vote for the “People’s Choice” award from the Grand Prize and Honor Roll at Art Gone WILD! On Saturday, July 19. The “People’s Choice winner will be recognized on the cover of the zoo’s WildTimes magazine.
Specifications
Entries can be created using any medium (crayon, pain, colored pencils, photographs) including computer-generated art. To be eligible for judging, all posters must be created on an official Dr Pepper entry form and represent one of the two contest themes. All posters submitted to the Dr Pepper Vending Machine art contest become the property of Friends of the Zoo. Official entry forms are available at Dickerson Park Zoo’s admission gate or by printing the attachment to this email.
