Steve Carell was absolutely perfect as Maxwell Smart. In fact, the casting for the entire film was perfect. Amy & I are notorious for not seeing a movie at the regular theatres because the bloated ticket prices almost always leave us feeling like we overpaid for what we had just seen. Not with this film. This was one of the best times I’ve had at the movies in a long time.
If you want a good night out to just laugh like crazy, check out this movie.
Amy & I were talking after the film and I just can’t think of anyone who would have been better at playing Max than Carell. I don’t think any Hollywood actor could pull it off with the ease of Carell. If you can think of one, post them in the comments.
Edit: Forgot to add…the trailer for The Dark Knight makes that movie look like it’s going to be incredible. Heath Ledger really looks like he’s going to blow away Nicholson’s Joker…and I didn’t think that would be possible. And the trailer for Henry Poole Is Here makes that movie look reeeeeeeeeeally good.

I really like Steve Carell and I’m sure he lends himself to that character really well… however I’m really tired of him playing the same role. It’s like Jim Carey until he did The Truman Show and some more serious projects. He’s fantastic at comedy but we needed to see something else. I think Carell needs to start finding some other roles or else he’s just a one trick pony.
What about Little Miss Sunshine? Dan in Real Life? I think he has made quite an effort to step out of his comfort zone, but all people remember are the funny ones. The Office and Evan Almighty are probably my Carell favorites.
I haven’t seen Get Smart yet but I think I am going to this weekend. I look forward to it even more now.
I am going to see it for two reasons: it looks funny, and Anne Hathaway. Enough said.
Get Smart looks okay over all though Steve Carell seems to be veering more and more toward not so funny slapstick humor
