The Gifts Begin To Arrive But It Wasn’t Supposed To Be Airmail

1 05 2008

Not a political or social commentary post here…just a comment on the upcoming wedding.  We have friends from all over the country who couldn’t make the wedding but have been sending us gifts which have all been very appreciated and very special to us.

This one was almost blown away from us.  It’s a beautiful picture of a paraphrase of Galatians 5:22-23 in script in a frame from Bryan and Carrie Butler (or some of you may know her as Carrie Pettit.)   Bryan and Carrie were married about six months ago and sent a lovely note saying they have the same picture on their wall as newlyweds.

The funny this is that I was on the phone with a client this afternoon and decided to stretch my legs so I walked to the front of the house and saw this large box that was just suddenly on my porch.  The UPS guy had just left it on the porch even though my front door was open…very weird.  Anyway,  I walked out in time for a gust of wind to grab the box marked “fragile” and start to have it fly out into the yard!  I don’t think I’ve moved that fast in a long time.  Good to know the old bones can move that quickly when they need to do it!

I’m just glad I was out there because I’m sure it would have been a wall hanging for a neighbor if I’d been five minutes later walking outside.  (Praise God for the need to stretch my legs!)

So to all of you who’ve sent cards and gifts already, thank you from both Amy & I.  We’re both humbled and honored by your gifts.
