I have to had it to someone at Missouri State. It was a pretty cool idea to give people the chance to sign their name to the steel beam that will be the highest in the new JQH Arena. I first heard about it from my close personal friends at KSPR and decided to walk past the drug dealing near the park a few blocks from MSU and check out the scene.
I almost signed my name right next to this guy:
But then I realized it wouldn’t be fair to poor old Bill. People would come up and go “LOOK! There’s the guy who won five Blogaronis!!! Who’s the old guy who’s name is next to him?” Bill’s put in enough effort at MSU that we should let him have his own spotlight for a while. (Note for certain humor challenged bloggers and show hosts: this paragraph is in jest.)
If you would like to follow in the footsteps of this lady…
…you still have a chance to sign the beam. Just come to the arena site tomorrow morning between 8 and 9. There should be someone there to give you a hard hat to wear although the beam is just barely inside the construction zone.
Here’s a few other pics I snapped from just inside the fence at the JQH of it coming together. The really bad news shown in this first picture is a result of some necessary budget cuts. They went back to John Q. and asked for a little more money but he said that the new Branson resort has him tapped out for the moment.
So, sorry ladies. Here’s a sneak peak of the new second floor ladies’ room at the JQH (with some other pics to follow):

Jason,
The idea isn’t new at MSU. When they were finishing the renovation at the Gillioz Theater downtown last year (?), they offered supporters the opportunity to autograph the ceiling before the scaffolding was taken down. Neat idea!
Ah…so they stole a good idea.
