Springfield resident Christina Anderson is running for Governor as a Democrat. So Attorney General Jay Nixon will have a primary opponent.
It’ll be interesting to see what kind of reaction she gets from the Democratic party faithful and party leadership. Will she be taken seriously? Time will tell.
If you click on the link in the first sentence you can see Ms. Anderson’s website with her issues and biography.

She has a personal blog at:
http://whimspiration.blogspot.com/
where strangely enough she never mentions that she is tossing her hat in the ring…
I think she would be better directing her energy and resources towards a state rep run or county office. But what do I know.
Christina is a good, strong, caring human being. Jay Nixon, on the other hand, is an ass. I’ll vote for him over Steelman or Hulshof or any other state-level Republican because that’s what a Yellow Dog Democrat does. But I would certainly vote for Christina in a primary.
I honestly don’t see how she stands a chance to win in a primary vs a powerhouse in Missouri politics like Jay Nixon. He’s been preparing for this campaign for over a year, has great name recognition due to his stints as Attorney General, and has a strong record of service. He’s also raised a fair amount of cash, and has the support of party leaders.
I hadn’t heard about Christina Anderson’s campaign until she posted about it on the facebook Springfield network. Her record doesn’t really show any reason why we should trust her with the government of the entire state of Missouri. Her “platform” is spotty at best. If she gets 5% of the vote I’d be amazed.
I did find it funny that her blogspot “campaign website” said:
“Paid for by The Commitee to Elect Christina Anderson Missouri Governor 2008″
Considering blogspot is a free service, I don’t quite get that…
I agree that Christina’s chances in a primary would be slim indeed. Jim’s point is very well taken: she would likely be better advised to run at a more local level, gain valuable experience, and move on from there. Ass that he is, Jay Nixon is the best qualified candidate for governor - so long as former Lt. Gov. Maxwell is still on the sidelines. All that aside, my heart is with the common person who wants to get involved some way or another. When campaigns for higher political offices are strictly limited to millionaires and the friends of millionaires, we are all in trouble.
