If you missed last night’s immigration debate you missed a very interesting evening! Fortunately, Steve Helms, President of the Metro Republicans, gave permission to have the entire event recorded. Here’s a link to the unedited audio of the event. The total file is about 82 minutes in length. (Warning: it’s about 55 MB.) Because it’s unedited, there is large gaps of silence in the first ten minutes where people running for office over the next year or two were introducing themselves and they did not have microphones.
I know I live blogged last night but here’s a chance for you to listen and make up your own mind about what was said and the people involved in the debate.

Jason, keep up the good work. Providing this audio for everyone that could not attend is a great service to the community. Even those that tried to attend may not have made it in the door, or possibly had difficulty hearing.
Thank you, and I apologize for how you were treated by Mr. Jericho.
Just a note, Jason, to thank you for taking the time to live blog council meetings and events such as last night’s debate/discussion. Not only do I get much better coverage than the newspaper can devote to it, but I can listen to the audio if I find the time. Quite a service you are providing to those of us who are interested.
Another note: I have posted on here a couple of times and want to clarify that my email signature contains my work address which is out of town; I live in Spfd (Ward 2) and have great interest in our city government and city’s future.
Thanks, again.
Anyone who couldn’t make it, well I am sorry. It was truely great and Vincent David Jeicho did a fantasctic job. I wish all our polititians local and National had half the sence that man has. We could all learn from Vince.
Sean are you joking? Seriously?
If we had half of anything Vince has, we would kiss our male reproductive organs goodbye, and then some.
The Springfield Metro Republican Club would like to thank Tony Messenger, Yolanda Lorge, and Vincent David Jericho for participating in our immigration event. We sponsor these events to bring awareness to important issues facing our community.
Our meetings are open to the public and we encourage free and fair debate on all topics. All participants and speakers views are their own and not necessarily those of the Metro Club.
The Metro Board has taken no public position on the outcome of the forum/debate and any views publicly expressed are those of the individual (to include Mr. Young) and not the Metro Board. We would like to invite the public to our next meeting on April 3rd at The Library Center, 7:00 PM, on the topic of education and school vouchers.
I was smarter than Jericho when I was five. Tony needs to press charges against that jerk. Miss Lorge needs to sue him for slander.
sounds to me that Mr Jericho is an educated man. I didn’t understand why he would not want to be recorded. I can’t believe the fuss this Mr. Freeman from the paper has made. Sounds to me that all Mr. Jericho wishes to do is to protect this country from failure. How can that be so bad. If he did offend some people, well I am sure they are all alive and kicking today. Buck up! This country isn’t where it is today because we pleased everyone on the way. Scratch your mad spot and go out and fix something.
The point is not that Vincent Schattenwhatever is an educated man and well versed in what he has to say, it’s that he took a forum that was open for friendly, constructive debate and made it his own personal sounding board. He should be ashamed and owes Helms and everyone else there an apology.
