Let's not forget the fluctuating rates which CU charges as well. My windows are still the 1950 wood windows from when the house was built, lath and plaster walls which means no insulation on the exterior walls, furnace is probably 10 years old and yet our fireplace keeps the house a reasonable 70 degrees except for the bedrooms. Electric blankets provide warmth along with body heat and yet I haven't seen a CU bill over $150 in winter or summer.

Bus, we had to bite it last summer and install a new heating and air unit. I'm happy to report that our utility bill has decreased by $75 per month, and averages around $150 per month!

Love the headline.
Our utility bill was lower this month than last month, by $46. It was still over $300.00. My mother's bill was lower by $22, at $191.
We have insulation, energy efficient windows, caulking and weatherstripping. Gosh knows what the bill would be if we didn't have all that.
