Commemorating The Ice Storm

15 01 2008

Thank you to those who’ve sent supportive e-mails and messages about my house. It warms my heart to know so many folks care like that…and right now my heart’s about all that’s warm in this 38 degree house.

I did have an interesting message that gave me a much needed laugh: “While everyone else has just been able to bemoan the anniversary of the events a year ago, you are actually having to re-live it!” Techincally, it’s not true because I have electricity but the temperature reminds me of it. (Well, my one room apartment sank to about 50 but that’s still cold.)

Right now, I’m a just a human McDLT. Remember those? The things advertised as keeping the hot side hot and the cool side cool? Well, I have a little space heater from Wal*Mart that’s sitting on the floor beside me. The side closest to the heater is nice and toasty. The other side is freezing like crazy. If it wasn’t that I had to wait for the plumbing guy, I’d have my happy butt on the way to The Coffee Ethic.

Thanks again for all the supportive and encouraging messages. Yes, I decided not to try and fix this one on my own.

I am praising God right now.  God brought me a house for myself and my family where I can be here for the rest of my life to be a father to my sons and soon a daughter and also soon a husband to my fiancee.  I’m in a good community that while we have problems is a great place to live and raise a family.  There are people who genuinely care about each other even if you don’t know them personally, don’t attend their church or who (GASP!) disagrees with you politically.

This is a damn good town.  I’m blessed to be a part of it and just because it’s a little cold in here doesn’t mean God hasn’t blessed me to be in this house and this town.

Have a good Tuesday everyone. :)
