The Brilliance of Pixar
27 12 2007We all know Pixar from their movies like Cars, Toy Story and The Incredibles. What most folks don’t know if they haven’t seen their big movies is that they make brilliant short films that can be just as entertaining as the long movies.
I bought the kids this for Christmas: 
I think I’ve enjoyed it more than the kids have enjoyed it. If you have a chance to rent this…do. The humor and sometimes ethikos really make for a worthwhile family experience.
And the look on the faces of the birds in “For The Birds” just before the big bird’s last toe comes off the phone line is priceless. As is the look on the big alien’s face in “Lifted.”
I don’t recommend a whole lot of DVDs for you to add to the collection but this is a really good one that would be great especially for folks with kids.
Honestly, that is the only Pixar DVD that I do not own. Not because we don’t want to, but because we haven’t gotten around to it. Are the shorts that do not appear with the feature films good enough to justify owning that DVD? “For The Birds” is absolutely brilliant (in fact you can see the birds on a power line in the feature Cars).
The best thing about Pixar is that they consistently make movies that entertain the parents as much or more than the kids that the movies get purchased for.
